We’ve worked hard to ensure PLAYFEST can go ahead this year!

Cornwall’s Children’s Festival and the biggest event of its kind in the South West is 10 years old this year and was until recently under threat of closure. With over 6000 visitors and a wide range of attractions and children’s groups and service providers.

Truro Council had decided that the Malpas Road to Boscawen Park was no longer wide enough or fit for the numbers of children and families travelling to the event. Alternative sites were deemed not child- friendly and some were dangerous.

Until recently the newly suggested site next to Truro cattle Markets by the main road into Truro was difficult to access by foot , wheelchair  or with a push-chair as there was no crossing and a fast moving carriageway. Truro Council have now agreed to place a lolly pop man at the traffic lights and to take pedestrian PLAYFEST goers into the festival field via a new entrance pathway. This now enables PLAYFEST to go ahead at this new site!!

There will be a big top from Swamp Circus with all day cabaret, fair ground, lovely food, workshops and have a go activities, storytelling, youth band stage and lots of fantastic children’s entertainment.

Entrance is free and wrist bands are £3 – these enable children to go in the big top , go on some rides and access messy play and green zone , storytelling.

Its not too late to join in…stalls, youth groups acts and rides..
